The Aesclepius meditation was
a great way to become more aware and see the true essence of who I am. Mindfulness meditation such as this one, helps
foster more awareness for the moment.
Instead of mindlessly going through the motions of life, it helps you to
experience everything you are doing.
When I am actually mindful even in the little things, I don’t take things
for granted which helps boost my psychological wellness because I become more
grateful even for the little things.
The saying "One cannot lead another where
one has not gone himself” (Dacher, 2006, p.477). Means that if I don’t
understand the path to healing for myself, how I can assist anyone else. I must first help myself before I can lead
anyone else. As a health and wellness
professional I do have an obligation to my clients to actively develop my
personal health psychologically, physically and spiritually. Failing to do so would make me a hypocrite
and a sham. Implementing psychological and
spiritual practices like prayer, mediation, exercise, healthy food and healthy relationships
will create more growth in my life.
